F.A.Q.

  • -  How do I perform a pump leak test before using it, and how often do I have to do this? 

It is very important to always do a leak test every time you are using the ASP-40 Air Sampling Pump. You can do this, by putting an unopened UNIPHOS gas detection tube inside the rubber inlet, align the two red dots of the pump, and make one full pump stroke. If the vacuum indicator at the bottom stays dark for 2 minutes, you are sure you can use the pump without any problems or unreliable readings. 
 

  • -  What to do when my tube shows  a crooked or blurry result after doing a test?

Sometimes you are encountered with a crooked or blurry discolouration of the chemical reagent in the tube. In this case, always take the average between the two points where it ended. 

 

  • -  Is it possible to exchange the UNIPHOS gas detection tubes with pumps of another brand? 

Only the piston and barrel types of pumps like the UNIPHOS™ ASP-40 or ASP-11p  and some other brands, can be used with the UNIPHOS gas detection tubes. 

 

  • -  What is the difference between the thicker tubes of other brands and the thinner tubes of UNIPHOS?

UNIPHOS has made the deliberately choice to develop tubes with a thinner diameter, and with a much finer chemical powder reagent. Not only this will reduce the manufacturing costs to finally provide our customers with tubes for a radical low price, the accuracy of the tubes also has been tremendously increased. 

 

  • -  Is it possible to use gas detection tubes from other brands on the UNIPHOS ASP-40 or ASP-11p Air Sampling Pump?

This is certainly possible, despite of the fact other manufacturers proclaim not. Every gas detection tube requires a minimum of 1 pump stroke of 100cc air or gas, what makes it possible to put every tube of every brand, despite of the thickness of the tube, in the rubber inlet of both of the UNIPHOS™Air Sampling Pumps.  

 

  • -  How do I discard the tubes?

To preserve our environment, all gas detection tubes should always be discared with the Small Chemical Waste according to local regulations, to prevent damaging and to preserve our natural environment. 

 

  • -  What should I do when a tube breaks and my hands touched the chemical powder reagent inside the tube? 

Always immediately was your hands, and never rub your eyes or touch your mouth before doing this.

 

  • -  Can I still use the tubes when their expiry date has been expired? 

No, to avoid the risk of getting unreliable measurements, we definitely discourage the use of expired tubes. 

 

  • -  Can I store tubes below 10° degrees Celsius, without damaging the tubes? 

We recommend to store the tubes between 0° and 10° degrees Celsius, to preserve the efficiency and quality of the UNIPHOS™ gas detection tubes. 

 

  •  -  Is it required to maintain or calibrate the UNIPHOS™ Air Sampling Pumps and how do I do this? 
Greasing: There is no standard term to grease the pumps. If you think taking a pump stroke is going heavier then usual, you can decide to open the pump, take out the plunger, take a little grease with a brush or your finger, and grease the inside of the pump. After screwing the pump back together, you will feel taking a pump stroke is going much smoother. 
 
Rubber Inlet: Owing to temperature, humidity and pressure differences in time, the rubber inlet of the pump eventually will show cracks. To assure your measurements will be reliable continuously, you can replace the old rubber inlet with a new one, that is standardly included with the purchase of your pump. 
 
 
  •  -  What should I do when I want to read my tube and I am colour blind? 
If you have any kind of colour blindness, we recommend you to let someone else read the tube who has a sufficient eyesight. Test if you have any kind of colour blindness on the Colour Blindness Chart.
